Dog Hikes and Beach Walks on PEI: What to Know Before Booking

If your dog enjoys getting out beyond the neighbourhood, a hiking adventure or beach walk might be worth considering. I offer both for dogs in the Charlottetown area. These outings are about two hours door to door, including pickup, travel, time outside and drop-off.

How are these outings different from a regular walk?

A regular neighbourhood walk starts from your dog's home and can be booked for 30, 45 or 60 minutes. A hiking adventure costs $45, and a seasonal beach walk costs $50. Both involve a trip away from home, so the roughly two-hour booking includes pickup, travel and drop-off. It is not two hours of walking.

Your dog might happily walk for an hour near home and still dislike the car ride to a trail. Another dog might enjoy the change of place. Tell me what you have noticed on outings together, and we can talk about which service fits. The Services and Rates page lists the walk lengths and current prices.

I will talk through the outing with you before we book. The destination depends on your dog and the conditions that day, so I cannot promise a particular beach or trail in advance.

What should I know about your dog first?

At the complimentary meet and greet, tell me about your dog's usual walks and any limits you have noticed. How do they behave around other dogs and people? What happens when they get excited? I also need to know how they travel in a vehicle. Please show me the harness or leash you want me to use and tell me anything that helps them settle before or after an outing.

I offer beach walks seasonally, when the weather permits the outing. Hikes also depend on suitable conditions. If your dog struggles with warmer, colder or wet days, let me know. I'll check the conditions before confirming where we go.

Is a longer outing right for your dog?

When choosing an outing, start with what your dog already does comfortably. If their usual walk is 30 minutes, tell me that. If they have mobility limits or a medical concern, mention those when you request care so we can discuss the outing before booking. A longer adventure is one option, but a regular walk may be the better choice for that day.

You do not need to decide between a hike, a beach walk and a neighbourhood walk before getting in touch. Tell me what your dog enjoys, how they handle travel and what dates you have in mind. We can go over what the outing would involve at the meet and greet.

If you are looking for dog hikes or beach walks on PEI, request pet care with your dog's details and the days you have in mind. I serve Charlottetown, Stratford and Cornwall. Let me know if you would prefer a regular walk as a fallback when the weather rules out the outing you had planned.
